Alternative Types of Medicine

When you are injured or get sick, you’re not limited to seeking out conventional forms of treatment-your family doctor is not the only option. In fact, you have a multitude of options. The long history of alternative medicine includes such therapies as acupuncture, aromatherapy, and homeopathy. All of these treatments can have some benefit, whether by relieving disease symptoms, or by improving your general well-being.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Two Different Philosophies

When it comes to treatment, there are two main categories: complementary and alternative. When you use therapies such as acupuncture or homeopathy in addition to conventional medical treatment, the treatments are referred to as being complementary. Alternative medicine, on the other hand, uses acupuncture, homeopathy, and other treatments instead of conventional medical treatment. Whether complementary or alternative, many of these treatments are considered holistic, in that they treat the whole person, rather than simply addressing their symptoms. Alternative Medicine – Its Strengths and Weaknesses

Briefly, What Is Alternative Medicine and Allopathic Medicine?

The term alternative medicine refers to any medical modality or system that has not been proven by science or if it has, proven positive for ineffectiveness, unreliable and/or harmful. Those modalities which are generally in use in allopathic medicine but not inducted into the system are known as complimentary medicine. Due to the nature of most of these, we will include them with alternative medicine in our little study here.

“Alternative medicine” is a term coined in retrospect to allopathic medicine referring to many systems which have been in use for centuries, and in some cases, since prehistoric times. The term is of fairly recent origin and, of course, includes modalities which have come into existence in comparatively recent times. We will now delve into our study here. IIPM: Placement

History Of IIPM

Year 1963: A proposal by Dr. M.K.Chaudhuri to set up an institute under the name of”Institute for Planning and Administration of National Economy” wasforwarded to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister and Chairman,Planning Commission, Government of India. The institute was committed tocutting edge research and education on economics, entrepreneurship andmanagement. A study tour was undertaken by Dr. M.K.Chaudhuriduring 1964-65 to acquire first hand knowledge about the working of similarinstitutions in Europe. A working paper on Regional Planning was circulated toleading academicians under the name ‘IIPM” in 1969.

Conceptualised by Dr M.K. ChaudhuriIndia’s leading economic visionary, theIIPM was formallyregistered in the year 1973. After completing his M.Sc., PhD & Dsc fromschool of Economics Berlin,Dr. M.K Chaudhuriworked with leading organisations and institutions like HLL, Indian Instituteof Advanced Studies , Shimla, XLRI Jamshedpur (as a Professor of Economics)& IIM Bangalore as Professor of Economics, before resigning from his job atIIM Bangalore to start what is today regarded as India’s Greatest AcademicMovement ..
